I am told that Western men outnumber Western women substantially in Doha so it makes it a bit of a lonely place to work and live in if you are a single chap? I am told that single ladies get a lot of attention from single ex-pats out there in the bars of an evening due to little else to do?

Anyone else know about this or about working and living out there?

If you have any sense you won't worry too much about lack of western women in Qatar. I can't see the connection with lack of western women and lonely single chaps. Fish - sea etc(Plenty of western women there the times I have lived there BTW)

Not a bad place to be actually. It is not like Kuwait, Saudi and some other restrictive places in ME. Plenty to do if you like boozing, dancing (with ladies),decent bands, good shows, most sports etc etc

Changed lot over the years. About 10 years ago limited to about 5 venues and VERY expensive for socialising. A lot has changed since then.

Accomodation quite expensive best if supplied with job etc.

I flew through Doha yesterday. It looks like a nice city and the airport was nice. A lot more westerners than Saudi however I think Doha is becoming a regional transfer hub to rival Dubai. The general view of Qatar from where am is it is a more liberal version of Saudi Arabia but not quite as brash as Dubai. If its female company you want - try Bahrain, its packed with Chinese and Russian Hookers.
