Couldn't resist posting this Daily Wail nugget, starring two of HPC's most long-standing bêtes-noir.

Straight-talking Kirstie Allsopp always tells it like it is to potential home owners as she scours the country looking for their perfect abode. But her abruptness landed her in trouble today after she publicly criticised a female financial expert's appearance on her Twitter page today.

The Location, Location, Location presenter took to her Twitter page this morning after watching news show BBC Breakfast.

And in a clear failure to think before she tweeted wrote: 'Finance woman on BBC Breakfast clearly came directly from a night out & it's debatable whether that's a skirt or not.'

She then added a hashtag - which is used to mark keywords or topics in a Tweet - to the end of her comment which said #hardtotakeherseriously.

But not long afterwards, Melanie Bien, the highly respected Director of Communications for independent mortgage broker Savills Private Finance who was on the receiving end of Kirstie's insult quickly retaliated.

She tweeted Kirstie in response to her rash comment and said: 'No, as a mother of 18-month-old, no nights out & I was wearing a dress, not a skirt.'

To which a by now shamefaced Kirstie responded: 'It's only fair to give right to reply!'

A few hours later she added: 'For the record, I'm no saint, I do think, say & Tweet mean things and I am as capable as anyone of hypocrisy, and my spelling is dodgy!'

Kirstie got a few tweets back from her followers, one of whom said: 'That's classic. did she look peaky? Or had she been exploited by #bankers (most of us have) ?!!'

Another even attacked Bien for retaliating to Kirstie and wrote: 'Your (sic) pathetic, at least she had the balls to say something. You think your high and mighty because your in finance, when actually your just as common as the rest of us.

But one sided with her and added: 'I find it really sad that women are so critical of each other re: appearance. It just wouldn't happen with men.'

Kirstie also got into a war of words with Sir Alan Sugar on Twitter last October after she was asked if she followed the Apprentice star on the site.

She wrote: 'I worked with him on Sport Relief does The Apprentice. His behaviour was shockingly uncharitable.

'There are words I don't use, but when it comes to Sugar and his treatment of the staff and crew involved, in any other workplace he'd be fired.'

Sir Alan quickly retorted and said 'Bloody cheek Kirstie Allsopp who was in celeb apprentice claims I was uncharitable. Lying cow, she was useless.

'Kirstie Allsopp was worst contestant in celeb apprentice ever, having hissy fits all time. Very rude.'

You have to laugh. Between them, their cheerleading for the house price bubble is a significant part of the reason for the mess this country is in, and their idea of life's priorities is to send catty Twitter messages about the other's dress sense. Vomit.

Edit - What next? Ray Boulger and Robert Peston casting aspersions on each other's sexuality?

We did this sort of thing on a thread a few days back; I'm still amazed that people are the slightest bit interested in what two vaccuous non-entities have to say about one another and even more surprised that people think it's newsworthy. It's the equivalent of that vacuuous geordie bird chatting with that vaccuuous scouse bird at that filling station. I mean, who on earth actually gives a fvck?

i think you've hit the nail on the head.

regardless of what is being said, it seems people are more bothered about whether someone has brushed their hair or not, and will take as gospel what is said by someone simply because they have matched their handbag to their shoes and "made an effort".

When did people stop listening and thinking?

or has it always been this way?

personally, i think that PR, the MSM and the eternal spin machine has caused so much damage I don't know how we reverse it.

is all a bit depressing really. :(
