The solution to the housing crisis - new affordable housing... it was on the news 10 minutes ago. Check this out:

Not ONE mention that CHEAPER housing is the solution. No, instead we have these PRE-FABS which you can now thankfully get a MORTGAGE on (not possible decades ago!).

I despair.

people loved their prefabs post war.

warm, a plot, nice "everyone is in it together" community.

today we'll have the "my prefab is better than yours cos its got a nik nak ithing for a doorbell" community spirit.

And the land with PP for yer prefab costs how much?

YES THAT'S THE PROBLEM.

It is like the £60k house scheme labour came up with.

It was £60k for for construction PLUS LAND.

The stupidity was that a normal brick/tile house, built en-mass, costs less than £60k to build anyway.... probably closer to £30k when build in volume.

That's what I thought of when I first saw this. Those 60K Prescott houses that after you included the land in the East Midlands cost 225K. 6K off 225K is fck all.

It's the price of the land ponzi, that is the problem.
