Davos WEF 2011: Osborne calls time on banker bashing
George Osborne has given a clear signal the Government wants to halt the long period of “banker bashing” by admitting “we need to move on”. .../
“We do need to move on,” Mr Osborne said, in comments that will be welcomed by banking leaders frustrated at the extended period of criticism.

We are witnessing a complete break-down in accountability. This could return us to another 1968 phase where people don't just get mad--they get even.

Especially when thousands have lost jobs and are on supplementary benefit/food stamps:

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-01-28/john-paulson-said-to-have-earned-5-billion-in-2010-as-hedge-funds-gained.html

John Paulson Said to Have Made $5 Billion in 2010
John Paulson, whose Paulson & Co. hedge fund made $15 billion betting against subprime mortgages in 2007, earned about $5 billion last year, according to a person with knowledge of the firm.

Let them eat cake--the suckers!

There is a 9/10 chance that you, your family or friends are leaching off the spoils of said banker. Do you really think you are worth the salary you are paid?

We are the 4th richest company in the world? Why? Because we are special? No? So, um, do you want wifey and daughter to work in factory or call centre to compete with India and China? Say what? you need to earn enough to service your £200K 2 bed flat mortgage?

People who are over leveraged in the UK deserve to be financially screwed for every drop of blood the can shed.

Until you get off your lazy asses and produce goods the world is actually prepared to pay for, sit down, sut up and continue to watch Homes under the hammer.

until you chavs learn to get off your asses work instead of continuing to rely on the bankers revenue for your Iceland Pizzas and Costcutter ciggies and cider then continue to put up with all the bankers throw at you.

What a joke.

Move on? Does that mean it's time to stop blaming Brown too? Does that mean it's time to let the millions of criminals off the hook, the ones who fraudulently obtained mortgages? Time to brush institutionalised criminal activity under the carpet?

It is not time to move. People need to be held to account.

That is:

"Look it's like the student fees thingy. Banker bashing was useful for getting votes to get elected but now we're in power let's "move on" back to normal - feathering our banker pals and our own nests."

100's thousands of skilled jobs the working class did have been vapourised.

Banks lent a few City "Gekko" types the cash to buy up viable profit making companies all over the UK which were split up, asset stripped & decimated for bonuses and xtra profits putting untold amounts of people onto the dole - the City scum!

City Banker's I.T.guys, Lawyers & Accountants are now being 'targetted' for even more profits!

Old news pasted umpteen times before

"The union highlighted the fact that Lloyds was employing Indian techies at lower rate than their UK counterparts back in July. However, the scale of claim – that as many as 1,300 contractors have been flown in – runs counter to the bank's assertion that the numbers employed are small.

"Indian contractors have been flown to the UK to do the work of IT staff and many of those have been moving from project to project and have worked for the group for many months, if not years," says LTU. Indian contractors could be as much as 50% cheaper than their UK counterparts.

There was also speculation earlier in the year that RBS was about to outsource more IT functions,

with the bank's staff saying an "entire floor" of office space had been handed to Indian outsourcing technology firm Infosys."

Is being 'over leveraged' a bit like when a bank massively exceeds it's capital cushion and then goes bust?

So what you really mean is that people who are not bankers deserve to be financially screwed for every drop of blood the can shed.

And what do bankers deserve- a bailout?

Can you say 'hypocrisy?

......................................... SNIP

Indeedy. I do think the peons will wake up and finally realise that the quality jobs have been off-shored. Déjà vu, encore!

As every month rolls on, I think we're getting a shade nearer the street riots like we had in the 1980s.

Agreed, I always thought Osborne was a patsy the day he marched into the Mansion House to greet his new masters, it was almost as odious as the ar$e kissing Brown used to do. Welcome to the United Thiefdom of Great Banksters.

When I was studying history I could never quite grasp how the unions used to hold so much sway over events during their mad ass era, how the various leaders were household names, and why the politicians were so supine and adrift, but I understand these power dynamics completely now by looking at the system the bankers have paid for. It looks like we're at a 1979 moment folks, those hoping for a return to business as usual will be sorely disappointed.

Off course we need to move on, the next round of looting needs to start so the elites can profit further while the taxpayer foots the bill via austerity.

At some point (when it's too late) the people are going to wake up to what is happening 'out there', then maybe, just maybe, we'll have our own riots and revolution.

Another round of bank bailouts should sour the mood quite nicely.

http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/Goldman-CEO-gets-salary-boost-reuters_molt-1655859694.html?x=0

Goldman CEO gets salary boost,
$12.6 million
shares

To be fair, at least it was not a bonus. Shows a bit of wilingness to be in it with us all who do not get multi-millions in our pay packet.

EDIT:

Oh, and that was based on a big loss:

NEW YORK (Xetra: A0DKRK - news) (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs Group (GS-U.TI - news) tripled Chief Executive Lloyd Blankfein's base salary and awarded him $12.6 million (7.9 million pounds) of stock,
even after the bank's net income plunged last year
.

If I was to confront him I would tell him he is a bit of a cheeky monkey and George should tell the same thing.

What Osborne means is they have the power to kick the can down the road.

Lloyds have £66bn in a bad bank. It was set up with 200 staff but the assets have turned out so bad it now needs 1200!

http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/Andy-Cumming-interview-There-tele-554859280.html?x=0&.v=1

Barclays are also rumoured to be considering a £200bn bad bank

http://ftalphaville.ft.com/blog/2011/01/10/453391/next-up-for-barclays-a-bad-bank/

These bad banks are great. Hide any losing bets. Take bonuses based on profits just on the winning bets. No problem meeting Basel capital requirements as a percentage of only the good assets, so more money to lend and bet with. Bubbly all round?

Osborne and Cameron are already dreaming of the money they are going to make when they leave government. They clearly don't actually care about the mess they leave the country in. Why should they? Look how much "socialist" Tony Blair earns.

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/celebrity/article.html?in_article_id=503845&in_page_id=181

It's obviously lucrative trashing countries, it isn't economic performance related it's corporatocracy performance related. Wrestle power from the corporate elite for the benefit of the country as a whole or make tens of millions? It's a tough choice isn't it?

I love this one. Even the lowly shoeshine boy is 'leaching off' the spoils of the bankers.

What a good life the nation has, serving its masters! How thankful we should be for so generously trickling down some of their spoils.
