Must Buy A House If You Want To Marry

Recommended Posts

I know that the world is full of crazy ideas, but would this work in the UK, where many single mothers rely exclusively on the state for housing provision??

AP, DUSHANBE, Tajikistan — Any foreign man seeking to marry in Tajikistan will now have to provide an apartment for his bride, according to legal changes introduce Wednesday.

The Central Asian republic's parliament also voted to introduce a requirement on foreign men to spend at least a year in Tajikistan before they are allowed to wed.

Lawmakers said the changes were needed to help the impoverished state avoid having to incur the cost of providing for children of women abandoned by their foreign husbands.

"After a family breakup, the responsibility of raising the child falls on mothers and the state," said the president's parliamentary envoy Dzhumakhon Davlatov.

Officials said most foreign marriages involve men from neighbouring Afghanistan and Iran, although there has been a recent spike in the number of Tajik weddings involving grooms from Europe, the United States and Japan.

I've heard the women over there are pretty expensive, if you know what I mean.

Any foreigners looking to marry will be hoping for a spouse-price crash.

(don't worry, I've already got my coat..)

But isn't that how it works here as well?

If there was a city populated just by men then almost everyone would rent and not think anything about it. But if you want a partnership with a desirable female you have to buy into the security=bricks & mortar mantra. Economics only comes in afterwards, at source house price inflation is biologically predicated.
