So Pervyn King Says Get Ready For Pay Cuts While The Banksters Get Massive Bonuses..

Recommended Posts

Yes, but the bankers will spend their bonuses in the wider economy, thus helping us all.

e.g. buying up Forestry Commission forests sold off by the government - as they make a good tax dodge, I believe.

Maybe the biggest problem facing the country in a year or two will be that of running out of things for the emerging super-rich oligarchy to spend their money on

...And we stand for this???

"Oh, what time is corrie on dear?"

SHEEEEEEPLE.

It strikes me that the corruption and greed that we are currently witnessing in the so called free world, rivals and perhaps surpasses anything that went on in eastern europe and Russia under communism. I really don't know why people are putting up with this, unless of course they're just too stupid to realise what's going on around them, or maybe their brains really are too addled by television for them to give a stuff.

Rich rewards needed to retain bank talent, MPs told
Steve Slater and Sudip Kar-Gupta, 12:44, Thursday 27 January 2011
LONDON (Reuters) - Paying high bonuses at state-backed lenders such as Royal Bank of Scotland (LSE: RBS.L - news) is hard to justify but is in the interests of taxpayers because of the need to keep good staff, the man in charge of the 67 billion pound bank stakes said.
"We understand it is very difficult to justify the sort of bonuses that are paid in these banks, but if we want to sell these shares we have to make sure the banks are able to retain the talent," Robin Budenberg, chief executive of UK Financial Investments (UKFI), told lawmakers on Thursday.

But surely the point is that we do not want that kind of talent--it costs the taxpayers and the health of the national economy too much. Better they sod off to China or somewhere else than to continue leeching here.

It's not greed and corruption here, it's all within the law and simply part of how things work within a fully worthwhile free market capitalist economy (which includes the freedom to not be bound by that if you're rich enough, of course). It's only corruption when it happens in places like Africa or Russia.

Once upon a time, the idea was that as a rich capitalist, you exploited foreign countries that could not defend themselves, but kept your own country relatively sweet because you needed the military protection, and to be able to walk the streets in safety.

They seem to have forgotten that.

Well.. not China, because the authorities tend to execute you if you rip off the government. Not Hong Kong or Switzerland, since I suspect they are full as it is. Not the Eurozone, they actually have some regulations there. And in the US you actually get prosecuted when you commit fraud.

Not quite sure what we can do. There was upwards of a million demonstrators against the war in Iraq and the government does not listen.

Her new tattoo is something else, that is one classy Geordie lady.

King is a fukkin arsehole.

Aye, we'll all accept wage cuts in real terms while you and your buddies sail off into the sunset with your six-figure salaries, property portfolios and bumper pensions.

If a revolution were to ever come in this country, its folk like him that would be the first against the wall.

He has his inflation proof pension... What is the procedure in a big society to ask Mervy to delink his pay/pension from inflation ?

There fixed for you. :D

Its all such a shambles.

He's posted on an anonymous internet forum.

Seriously though. I think occasionally we all get a little exasperated with the complete indifference by the general populace to the system but why worry about it?

You can try and change the system or you can play the system to your advantage. I'm suggesting that your efforts will be far more productive by embarking on the latter.
