I confirm absolutely that for sale prices have fallen. Mrs FP and I look at the Mercury every week and there is no question that prices have fallen.

Also, rents are down at least 10% since 2 yrs ago.

NB a house we saw for rent a week ago at 1400 is now 1150pcm. Yes 1150!!!!

A new housing estate in Hoddesdon, opposite the hundred acre estate is attracting a rough old lot. This estate has a mixture of flats and houses. So there are 4 bed luxury houses near shared-ownership part-rent flats. There is a very rough looking lot that drink beer whilst pushing their babies around in prams. I'm sure you know the type. Nonetheless people on the hundred acre are asking rediculous prices for their houses. Typically £75k in '96 now they want nearer £250k for a 2-bed semi on an estate. If I had a quarter of a million burning a hole in my pocket, I certainly wouldn't buy one.

Well, we've finally done it.

Mrs FP and I have traded up.

Yes, we are moving rental froma nice 3 bed semi to a lovely 5 bed semi.

Difference of £350 pm - we would say that's an excellent deal.

Why doesn't everyone do it?

Congratulations. I have just done the same and increased another £200.00 to £900.00 in Huddersfield.

What a sensible lot we are on this site. I looked at the price of buying and the mortgage was double.

Eurows

Are there really rental properties for £900/ month in Huddersfield? Which area do you rent in - does this come with a swimming pool?
