man o' the year

Not The Same Elsewhere

Recommended Posts

Just from hols and noticed that compared to UK and compared to Tenrife at the same time last year ;

- Tenerife much busier this year but prices (restaurant etc) significantly lower this year.

- Plane out and back much emptier than last year, ( return was less than half full)

It is worth noting that it seemed there was just as large a percentage of Brits out there. The major change was lots and lots of Russians. We met some from even from Tomsk, that's 5000 miles or an 8 hour flight!

Lots of businesses out there gone from last year butthey do seem to be quick tunrovers but I did note a few which had been there for years which had gone during 2010.

There are lots of "se alquila" ( for rent) signs but not many se vende ( for sale). This too could tie in with the Russian presence already being established.

Notably Loro park and Siam park - the 2 big attractions were both quieter than last year and car-hire too was easier to play off pricewise than last year and desks (in airport) never had other people wanting cars.

Oh and the weather was good/ 1 cloudy day in a fortnight and we went up the volcano above the clouds and into the Sun anyway.

Its -4.5 here now we're back. 30 degrees C lower than we had yesterday.
