Consumer Slowdown

Recommended Posts

Heard on the radio this morning that the record slow down in consumer spending last week was because............wait for it.....

They were too busy queuing for petrol to spend money!!

I suppose the week before that they were watching the cricket.

painting their toenails the week before that

What tosh - it took me 5 minutes if less to queue for petrol at the height of the "crisis". Not all week or all day as the headlines are making out.... and it didnt cost me my months wages to do so either (in case they want to say i had no money left over).... <_<

In a number of cases it's down to piles of thick credit card bills wedging peoples' front doors shut.

The festive period is the most important part of the year for retailers; second is the summer - and that was hit hard by a number of disruptions such as Live 8 and the Ashes leading to the fall-off in spending.
