Scrum For Halewood Jobs

Recommended Posts

Don't think this has already been posted.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-12198972

According to earlier news stories, they were mostly production operatives jobs. The average salary for these in the North West of England is just over £14,000, according to salary websites. Still better than NMW (£11,409.32 p.a.), so no wonder there was a bit of a scrum.

"Land Rover Jaguar job applications 'overwhelm' Halewood

More than 14,000 people have applied for 1,500 new jobs at Merseyside's Jaguar Land Rover car plant.

The posts have been created by the decision to base the new Range Rover Evoque at the Halewood site, which should go into production this year.

The company described the response as "unprecedented" and "overwhelming", with almost 10 people chasing each job.

Within the first week of the jobs being advertised, 8,000 applications were received.

Mark Pennifold, the company's HR manager, said: "The launch of the Range Rover Evoque is a critical milestone for Jaguar Land Rover and Merseyside.

"Last year we announced the new addition to the range would create 1,500 jobs at the plant and I am pleased to say we have now come to the end of the recruitment process.

"This unprecedented response demonstrates how important an employer Jaguar Land Rover is to the region and we look forward to welcoming the new members of the team over the coming months."

The company said that it had positive pre-orders for the Evoque, which will sell from upwards of £30,000."

Just wondering how much these jobs are costing the Government? They can't be real can they. You mean employers paying wages without a subsidy or bail out?

5,000 chase 100 new Southampton Airport jobs

I think your mistake in these matters is thinking that all these applicants are the unemployed ;)

Very good point. And I reckon at least half will not be serious applicants. Just going through the motions.

WIth this in mind 10-1 ratio is actually pretty shit hot. Anyone with the right attitude should do ok.

Well, viewing the lines (on South today), there was a mixture of youth through to middle age and beyond. They even interviewed one bloke who'd been unemployed for 2 and half years and had applied for 1500 jobs I kid you not.

He's not got the right attitude though has he CCC. <_<

Well sometimes you have to be harsh. If this bloke has applied for 1500 jobs and not even got one ? he clearly has serious issues and must come across horrendous in the interview.

At least he is trying though. Which is better than nothing. But such is life. He is clearly not good enough for the jobs he is going for.

He should aim lower.

Someone applying for that many jobs us not getting interviews - for whatever reason. If they do come along, I imagine his confidence is shot - he may come across a tad desperate.

Not a nice place to be.

I think your talents lie in Social work you know, they've a good track record on giving advice.

So maybe you can poitout exactly what was wrong in my previous post ? Or was what I said actually spot on...

Perhaps sometimes people need a bit of harsh reality ? Nicey nicey touchy feely stuff does not always work.

Oh aye I am sure it is brutal. However such is life. If you have tried something 1500 times and failed every single time ?

Perhaps it is time to sit back and have a good look at what you may want to change/improve.............

If it were women and not jobs, would we blame the loserman or the 1500 women?

The man !! I would assume he was a ginger. :D

As has been said to you before, you've not really got the experience of life in this subject area to make comments or give advice like that.

Let's hope everything goes swimmingly in CCC's little world and you never find yourself in a corner when no matter how you try, every door appears shut.

As Tinker says it must be hell for him and I make no judgement on a man's desperation to find work.

Really ? I could swear I have pointed out on numerous occasions that I have been unemployed before.

I have also arrived in a foreign country, got myself somewhere to live and NEEDED to find work, any work, with x number of weeks to be able to eat.

That counts for nothing aye....;)

I don't feel sorry for myself. That is the only difference between me and a lot of other people out there.

Your example is disingenuous for numerous reasons, your youth, the economic climate at that time etc etc etc and guess what it isn't about your limited experience of life.

I find it hard to think someone could be so arrogant and ignorant at people's experiences as you've shown on this and other threads.

Don't become an advisor for the Samaritans will you.

Exactly where am I being arrogant and ignorant on this thread ? Please just point out exactly where ?

All I am saying is this bloke that tried, and failed, to get 1500 jobs is clearly doing something wrong and is clearly just simply not good enough for the jobs he is going for.

Instead of telling me I am arrogant and ignorant - please just explain exactly what I have said that is wrong ? Or factually incorrect ?

I just say things as they are. I can't abide ********. Some peope don't like that. I don't care. The World needs people like me. Would be dull as ****** otherwise !!

I would mention that CCC's women must have staples in their middles but then that would be showing my age.

Staples ? Spill the beans !!

If he did perhaps the pages would stick together?

Porn used to be available in magazines ( unless you shop at morrisons)

Ah - I was thinking literally !!

Oh aye seen many a bird with staples in her. Used to find them in the local woods. Why is that !?

Never quite understood but seems most blokes have similar experiences. Weird.

Well, twenty or thirty years ago, life's genetic cul-de-sacs- such as you- would masturbate over pornographic magazines, and traditionally the most spank-worthy girl would appear in the centrefold, and her otherwise perfect appearance would be marred only by the staple which held the magazine together.

Ah - so now we are onto the 'You don't have kids so you are somehow not as worthy as others that do'.

Hear this pish all the time. Not exactly difficult to have a kid. Take a look at some of your local chav areas to see just how the lowest of the low can also join this exclusive gang.

For the record I am from a family of 7 kids. So I fear your thoughts of a genetic cul de sac are unfortunatly misguided. My genes will be, and have already been, passed on. I am just being sensible by not being directly involved in all the hassle that accompanies it.

Similar to 'You don't have a job so you are somehow not as worthy as others that do'. I suppose ;)

I have never said people without jobs are not as worthy. And you know it. :P

Many people choose not to have a job and dont need one. No issue with that.

However I do think one thing. Those who WANT a job and have one are clearly worthier than those who also want a job and DONT have one.

I would have thought that was pretty self evident.

£14,000 a year and they get a Scrum wonder how many people would have applied if the wage was enough to put a roof over the head and raise a family ?

Maybe many of those in the Scrum do have familys so the tax payer will be coughing up with in work benefits . The whole wages work thing is just a joke !!!
