"we Are Going To Be Wiped By The Far East"

Recommended Posts

She was speaking on Any Questions having just returned from a visit over there.

I forget just how much general notice was being taken of China in particular at that time. It had started, but must have been nothing compared to the situation we're now in.

I also remember her going on to mutter something contemptuously like: "...and we'll go on arguing about how much to spend on the NHS...."

Question now is: is the wipeout happening, and if not what can be done to stop it?

Have a massive investment drive to build loads of polluting factories up North and stop paying most benefits, so we'll have a plentiful supply of people to work in them at internationally competitive rates. Then we can take the Chinese on on their own terms. This policy should pretty much wipe out our deficit (Deficit = over £150Bn, Welfare = £200Bn) and create loads of jobs in factory construction and maintenance.

This is not going to happen any time soon, unfortunately. Stop paying benefits and the locals will simply move onto London, or Dusseldorf long before international capital moves the factories back.

I suspect we're going to end up becoming a bizarre mixture of Morse's Oxford (don't tell them about Blackbird leys/cowley!) and Las Vegas. We already get millions of tourists, language students and bargain shoppers spending their money here. And what is the Premier League but a money-spinning device? I reckon the EvilBlair knew exactly what was needed when he had those casinos in the pipeline.
