copydude Posted January 9, 2011 Share Posted January 9, 2011 Policeman Traumatised by Porn Awarded Damages For 'Work-Related Injury' Quote A Rhineland policeman who claimed he suffered a mental breakdown after seeing a pornographic image emailed by his superior will have his medical costs paid by the state, media reported Thursday. A Düsseldorf court had ruled that the man’s trauma from the image – ending in the breakdown of his marriage – could be regarded as work-related injury. The police superintendent, 39, received an email from his chief commissioner. The attachment showed a Powerpoint presentation of a blonde reclining on a Ferrari. However when the officer clicked further, the slideshow moved on to woman’s genitalia infected with a skin rash, supposedly advanced venereal disease. He was “seriously traumatized,” the court heard. Ultimately, the email caused the man “psychiatric illness, obsessive compulsive disorders and obsessive ideas.” The state of North Rhine-Westphalia must in the wake of the court decision pay the man’s medical costs and costs associated with any long-term damage. thod Posted January 10, 2011 Share Posted January 10, 2011 Odd that a policeman should be so shocked by a picture of a vagina. After all its part of his job to deal with prostitutes. I seem to recall a similar case in the UK when a policeman claimed trauma from seeing dead bodies. The courts ruled that, since they are specifically called to deal with dead bodies, many of them naked, it was part of his job to see them. If he can claim trauma, then so can every doctor and nurse in the land. I find it hard to believe that a middle aged, married, hardened policeman would truly be shocked by a vagina, not even a vagina, just a picture of one.
