China hiding military build-up: cable

Australia's intelligence agencies believe China is hiding the extent of a massive military build-up that goes beyond national defence and threatens regional stability, the latest WikiLeaks cables show.

It is inevitable alas. The question apparently going around Washington is whether sooner than later is best for the US.

People forget, when George Bubba Bush became President the focus turned on China and there were all sorts of minror confrontations with warships in the Yellow Sea, spy-planes and, in one notable case, a US spy-plane being forced to land in China.

The Yanks were clearly focussing on China as a potential enemy... and then 911 happened... and US CEOs saw huge potential profit in China... so the focus changed...

Having established its credibility WikiLeaks now being used by the MSM to try to spread fear and alarm amongst the masses.

Neat.

Maybe China will call for Assange's extradition now.

The Chinese do not have a history of atavism. The Mongolians did it for them. Rather, they have most often be the victims of foreign invasion and suffered a great deal in the run up to WW2 when Japan overran much of the SE.

The nations with the greatest record for foreign invasion + occupation (atavism) are:

1. UK

2. Rome (Empire)

3. Greece (Ancient)

4. Spain

5. Russia

6. Portugal

7. Germany

8. France

9. Norway

10. Italy

37. United States (HI, AK arguably occupied as a result of wheeelng and dealing r/t miltitary invasion).

Its not looking good for Iran as far as the Franco-German alliance are concerned--the Germans won't hesitate if the need arises and will unleash the nukes while the US still thinks about it:

Islam now considered 'a threat' to national identity by almost half of French and Germans, according to new poll

Islam is considered a 'threat' by millions of French and Germans, with the vast majority believing Muslims have 'not integrated properly', a devastating new poll revealed today.

They are probably looking for an excuse to go in. Just one bomb in a German rail station and kapoof--bye bye Armourdinnerjacket.

The diplomatic and wider international affairs community have known this for ten years at least. I remember learning about the concealment of Chinese military expansion in 1999 or 2000. The Western democracies know all about it and have been monitoring it since the start. Anyone who knows the first thing about this will be able to tell you that:

1. China cannot under any circumstances win a war against the West and probably will not be able to do so ever.

2. It would take all of China's knowledge and hardware to take back Taiwan. Idiot talk of China going on an international rampage and annexing countries should be ignored.

3. A hot war is unlikely in my view. My prediction for China is that a selection of important countries will balance against it behind the US and a new Cold War will ensue, which China will lose.

It's all because of that idiot confucious. Who regarded the family unit as the most important thing of all. Thus for China to remain isolationist. If I had a time machine and went back to take him out, everybody would be speaking Mandarin right now.
