A Solution For All The Anti-"not-Economy-Thread" Types On Here

Recommended Posts

I realise this is OT (itself) and should eb relegated tot he "ideas for Fubra" forum, but can it stay here for a little while to get some input (the last post in that forum was waay back in November - don't think it's frequented that often!)

Can we not have a "tick list" of forums that we want to view (much like an ignore list or "ones to watch"? All threads would then be viewed in a "mega-forum" that allows people who want to see all the gold threads mixed in with the main forum could do so, and people could filter out what they didn't want to see?

I might want to see, for example, the following forums all together, without having to flit back and forth:

- Main forum

- gold forum

- all about renting

- The off topic forum

Other times I might just want to view the regional house prices forum for the NEast. With the new system this would be easy too.

Others might only want to see just the main forum, and could choose to just do that.

Everybody's happy.

Could this be done? Would people like to have such a

Not sure it would make much difference. Certain posters try converting everything into a gold thread these days.

I think a simpler and less complicated system would be to have an ignore function (all it needs is one button). That way if a poster is posting stuff that is making you fume, you can simply ignore them and their input to the discussion will not appear to you.

This would mean that if a topic touched on gold, for example, and drew the ire of the minority 'gold ramper' crowd, they could simply ignore the dirty gold posters in question, so the dreaded gold word no longer appeared to them in the discussion to offend their luddite sensibilities any more.

Likewise, others could use the function to fend off the small-minded protestations and abuse that the 'gold ramper' crowd like to resort to. Therefore everyone would be happy and the thread wouldn't be derailed by retaliatory posts. Also no one would need to report any one to the mods because the evil 'g' word was mentioned and no one would need to report any one because they have an IQ below 80.

Meanwhile, anyone that wished to view the full discussion could do so, without returning later to find it heavily edited in a hackneyed fashion by a rushed mod is the style of a teacher dealing with a childish spat that throws the good kid and bad kid in detention together, cos it's too much effort to work out who is the problem.
