–Hometrack: UK Dec House Asking Prices Down 0.4% m/m; Down 1.6% y/y

LONDON (MNI) – UK house asking prices fell 0.4% on the month in

December, their sixth consecutive monthly fall, and were down 1.6% on

the year, according to Hometrack data.

The Hometrack series shows house asking prices fell in every month

from October 2007 through to April 2009 before rallying, holding steady

or rising in every month until July this year, when they began to fall

again. The second half of this year has seen monthly falls ranging from

0.1% to 0.9%.

There has been a raft of survey evidence showing the UK housing

market is on its second down leg, with activity levels low by historic

standards and still declining.

Hometrack said demand, as measured by the change in new buyers

registering with agents, was down 4.8% on the month in December,

following a 4.3% fall in November. Supply fell less rapidly, with the

volume of property listings falling 1.5%.

From the report..

% postcode districts with price increase over month 0.1

% postcode districts with price decrease over month 54.0

Guess this means even London isn't rising anymore?
