Learning body to cut 1,300 jobs

The official body in charge of promoting learning and skills in England is to axe 1,300 jobs under cost-cutting plans, union officials have been told.

The job cuts will lead to the closure of Learning and Skills Council offices across the country, it was warned.

Assuming the skills were work related ... Perhaps nobody wanted to learn new skills e.g.

People who own houses '... well my house is increasing by x amount a year why bother learning new skills when I can get money for nothing...'

People not owning houses '... I'll never afford to buy my own house - why should I bother learning new skills and work hard when HP inflation outpaces what I can earn ...'

Just a thought ....

i remember when it was called the Job Club and they trained people with square / triangle / star / round pegs which they had to put through square / triangle / star / round holes.- and type a cv and to remember to arrive for interviews 15 mins early.
