corevalue
Atmel AtMega processors on a little board, with some interfacing running some sort of C-like language. What are you going to do with it? You could just use Atmels own free development system with a cheap JTAG debugger ("dragon") and standard C, on a wide range of hardware. Have a look here: http://www.futurlec.com/ET-AVR_Stamp.shtml and here for an Arduino board http://www.futurlec.com/ET-Easy168_Stamp.shtml

Another use is to jailbreak a PS3, although a Teensy is a better option due to the built in USB host.
Gigantic Purple Slug
As above, depends what you want to do. If you're just into controlling IO from USB there are simpler things than this. I use the teensy which is good for slow stuff (system voltage monitoring, fan controllers etc), but I run my main stuff using a Virtex 5 - not for the faint hearted.

Peter Hun
BTW do you have a rep rap ? Not yet. I've been following for four years, its a lot of work to setup. I'm waiting till I actually have a need to make anything, plus the design is being refined. I like the production conveyor belt that one of the offshoots has produced, for instance. The http://hydraraptor.blogspot.com/ has interesting hints about production use, he's had his running for months 24/7 .
