I used to go there occasionally around then.

I knew Dave, one of the  the owners well/

IIRC, the club had its license suspended due to noise complaints from residential neighbours.

It became an unsuccessful art gallery for a while

The bar struggled on for a bit, but the cost of supporting the rent on an empty club, forced bankruptcy in the end.

Michael the manager was a nice guy, but sadly died of aids

Someone's been on a minimalist house trip ;)

Back then I didn't comprehend how good this was and, now, still is.

:D Funny you should mention that one .. I recently put that in my early 90s top 20 (am still musing over it )

I had a theory that perhaps early house / techno / nu-beat / rave was mimimalist/  as a rebellion against the previous dance music of the late 70s early 80s .

I'm waiting for that list ;) You may inspire me to come up with one. I don't dare post the #1 track again - has stayed with me for life. Nothing comes close.

Oh, whatever. Someone might have missed it :)

1994.

Working on the new posts. In the meantime. here's another (minor) classic IMO.

So Italian. That piano. And the best opening lyric of all-time. "I'm in the kitchen and all I want is just a cup of tea".

^ Where Stock-Aitken-Waterman got so many of their ideas ;) Very nice.

Here's a "curiosity" - 90s dance on guitar. These two are brilliant - many more on YouTube including "trance sets" (I joke not)

Bellissima (literally and metaphorically) at 04:15..
