justanewbie
My own contribution, from another thread. Add your own, s'il vous plaiz :- If you can watch house prices, as they stubbornly just stick, If you can read the VI news without being physically sick.. If you can keep your head, while all about you offer and complete, If you can watch the landlords, fat and soft, replete, If you can save your money, guarding it with care, If you can watch the market, playing it with flair, If you can post your messages, interesting, profound If you can read the others, not letting spite abound.... If you can wait till all the news, conspires to point one way... And then still wait, till prices drop and gently trough one day.... Then, your house will finally be yours... And what is more.... You'll just about be ready for retirement, my son.
Hino98
Oh dear ! All the effort you must have put into what you saw as 'thing of beauty' and people didn't give it the respect you thought it deserved...... so you posted it again ......and again As an Australian I'm not too familiar with 'English' poets, though I though some of the old verses stick in my mind...... Theirs not to reason why, theirs but to see and buy. Into the valley of debt rode those who had blundered. Don't ya just love it when a great plan comes together
Mushroom
"if" has another reference for me. A film from 1968, directed by Lindsay Anderson and starring Malcolm McDowell. It is surreal in nature being about revolution in a private school. It appealed to the "revolutionary" feelings of the time. There are some critics who say it is only "of it's time" and hasn't travelled well. However, some of those here who display an understandable anger towards their elders, might emphathise with this film, showing bloody revolution and the young rebelling against conformity. I don't know if it's available on DVD. Anyone else remember this film?
