Tea Party Nation Leader Judson Phillips Thinks Only Homeowners Should Have The Vote

Recommended Posts

Interesting one this. Thanks to Quiet Guy on the news blog.

The Founding Fathers also wanted blacks to have 2/3 of a vote.

And while we're talking about what Founding Fathers wanted, how about we look at what Cromwell wanted too

Said on David Icky forum Rush Limbaugh only wants the employed to vote or something.

I kind of think with democracy comes with responsibility, so every vote should have a general knowledge quiz attached to it, and only people with a decent amount of knowledge should have their votes counted

I think it is what the founding fathers would have wanted. The fought a war so that rich white male landowners could have power instead of rich white male landowners.

Why not turn back the clock even further to the point where only Toffs have a vote. It worked for 200 years, didn't it?

Joke isn't it?

People actually think they have a vote.

You don't have a vote, in the sense that it is of any use. You (and I) can only vote for who they tell you to vote for anyway.

I think the entire world should have one government, preferably a monarchy, and that i should be the king.

Things would be so much better for everybody. Mostly me though.

Kneel, mother******ers.

You actually are a cat aren't you?!

To be fair, you couldn't do a worse job than the politicians we have in charge now. The fact you are on this site suggests you are smarter than most politicians and probably have a better understanding of finanace.

Probably the best option for leadership would be a Benign Dictator.

I would have a 'governing board' voted in by the people from a pool of suitable candidates representative of the population, which would be picked randomly, like a kind of jury service. i.e. power specifically kept away from those who want it and given to those with knowledge/experience.

Thinking about the natural extension of this policy, I think it's a great idea.

So great in fact it should be extended as follows:

-Only property owners can vote.

-Only property owners for military service.

-Only property owners pay income/property tax.

Yeah baby bring it on...

'No taxation without representation', that's the motto of the Tea Party, no?

Why not let only the toffs have the vote? It won't change the outcome but at least the politicians won't be able to try to claim they're representing the population.

+1

Government under PM Cameron, PM Clegg, or PM Brown would be virtually indistinguishable.

I think i would be a good idea.

I'd love it if our own government undertook some completely amoral act overtly [for a change]

It would be the straw that broke the camels back.

Uniting everyone who has found themselves on the wrong side of Labours reign.

You would see some 'fun' on the streets then.

Nah, wrong criteria. Perhaps only people with an university degree? Or on the right side of the IQ bell curve? :D

Edit: Or both?

Or that.

Actually just one little question answered correctly would suffice for me: "Explain the difference between deficit and debt." :D

( How big would the electorate be after that one? )

Ancient Athens model then. Interesting. It did work very well, for a long time.
