Recommended Posts

'He is accused by the Swedish authorities of one count of unlawful coercion, two counts of sexual molestation and one count of rape, all alleged to have been committed in August 2010.

So in the context of sex what's lawful coercion. Article relates to the Wikileaks guy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coercion

Coercion (pronounced /koʊˈɜrʃən/) is the practice of forcing another party to behave in an involuntary manner (whether through action or inaction) by use of threats, intimidation or some other form of pressure or force. Such actions are used as leverage, to force the victim to act in the desired way. Coercion may involve the actual infliction of physical pain/injury or psychological harm in order to enhance the credibility of a threat. The threat of further harm may lead to the cooperation or obedience of the person being coerced. Torture is one of the most extreme examples of coercion i.e. severe pain is inflicted until the victim provides the desired information.

Is it even possible to have lawful coercion?

Government points a gun at your head demanding taxes = lawful.

People individually doing it = unlawful

as the government does not like competition.

It's like when a security guard catches a young and attractive shoplifter but before phoning the Police gives her the opportunity to come downstairs and "talk to the judge".

Happens more often than you realise. There are numerous women who have driving licences which should NOT be on the road because they clearly cannot drive! They some how managed to convince the examiner to give it to them. One of my dad's friends 30 years ago had a wad of money on his dashboard and got his licence too. He was killed in a car crash (taking out his whole family) three weeks later.

Same with this rotten restaurant in Manchester called Tai Pan, they paid the health inspector bribes then he retired and the new one was young and foolish and decided to report them instead of taking the bribe.

Bribery and corruption are pretty normal in the UK we just pretend it isn't.

+1

This is why I found the shocked indignation ove the recent World Cup to be laughable. Look at all our QUANGOs - patronage is corruption by another name.

It could mean anything. Legal speak is bad enough, legal speak translated from Swedish to English by the Daily Mail could be even worse.

Does anyone have a copy of the original Swedish warrant? If so I'll ask other half whether that's actually what it says.

Not just governments either.

Bank unilaterally closes customer's account for ideological reasons = lawful.

B&B refuses - ahem - certain guests for ideological reasons = unlawful.

One law for banks, another for real industries.
