Wasteful Stupid Govt

Can anyone explain why we were treated to a dozen ads about the risks of using the beaches and coast line last night?

It's -1'C after a week of snow so I don't imagine ANYONE has gone to the seaside this week.

OK smarty pants there are TWO people enjoying the seaside.

The ad shows holiday makers on a nice beach, idiots about to jump off a pier etc. It's not aimed at the winter sports crowd who presumably are au fait with the risks involved of doing stuff on ice.

I'm so glad you posted this Sarah. I didn't see the adverts myself but had just put my speedos on and was about to drive over to Blackpool to down a bottle of Smirnoff while running along the sea wall at high tide. Your timely intervention probably saved my life!

So what do these adverts tell you?

Our coastlines seem to come in two flavours. Nanny's beach, with lifeguards, and red flags as soon as there's a bit of wind. And proper coast, where you make your own judgement.

Tells me stupid people can be dangerous anywhere.

The kids on the beach is just so common sense but we know from a few years back that well educated doctors can be awfully poor at common sense when it comes to looking after theirs on holidays.
