BUT, they do insist we are separate and distinct from the animals....Is there any evidence that we are different....Im not sure thats right...

These are good questions, and the answers lie in the phylogenetic tree. Yes, there is strong supporting evidence that we are no different in our ancestry to other animals; we fall in line with the primates, and the most recent split which still has an ancestral line alive today are the chimpanzees. Both the fossil record and DNA evidence show both humans and chimps share a common ancestor somewhere around 5 million years ago.

Since that split, several different sub-species of hominid evolved, branching from the main path that has become the human race today, but all of those have since become extinct (perhaps in part due to competition with Homo Sapiens). This includes lines such as Neanderthals.

I'm loathe to link to wikipedia normally, and usual caveats apply, but this list gives quite a good idea of the sort of numbers of fossils that we have access to that show the detailed lineage of the hominids. It helps to underline the fact that we are not basing our theories on one or two well separated points and guessing what happened in between. As with all evidence of this type, there is room for error, confirmation bias and subjective analaysis, but independent corroboration with DNA evidence does help to reinforce our understanding of our ancestry!

very good points, logical throughout.

Yes, creationism is about the source of life at the end of the day.

they agree (well the JWs do) that creatures change and adapt ( evidence- we are all the same creature yet all different, inherited traits etc etc),

BUT, they do insist we are separate and distinct from the animals....Is there any evidence that we are different....Im not sure thats right...which leads to the Genesis of life itself...if the Inspired Word of God insists we are different, yet evidence exists that we arent, then that would have serious consequences for all Religions based on the scrolls of the profits and teachings of Jesus.

No doubt, the Religious Authorities would come up with a "new enlightenment" to cover the evidence.

I can understand, therefore, just the power of the motive to cover up certain discoveries of the past.

I am not wishing to damage any religious beliefs, but just what objective proof do these JW's have? And how does that differ from the hundreds of other religions?

What sort of personality disorder would a 'God' have to make people just so they can go down on their knees and worship him? Why arrogantly demand 'faith' when a simple proof would be so easy?

Why give your creation the power of doubt and reasoning?

Actually a decent scientist shouldn't ever use the word "believe". "This is the model that I think best fits the observable facts, this is why" should be as far as they'll go. Belief shuts out the possibility of someone coming along with a better model. If the model is good enough it'll come very close to belief, but should never cross over that gap.

Agreed.

Wrote in a hurry. The point is that good scientists only hold a passing 'belief' or acceptance of an idea and are delighted to find something better. A religionist shrinks from the very idea.

Because in reality, we have created an image of ourselves, called it god, and are engaged in self-worship.

Its in the Bible....the Word of God...of course.

as to doubt and reasoning....thats the forbiddn fruit that the serpent used to ensnare Eve, who entrapped Adam into eating it. Adam was perfect, but eating the fruit was the only thing God said to Adam NOT to do... He did eat, but not through his own action.

God then put this sin onto all of Adams children until such time as God would judge the world and cast out the Serpent into the pit of hell.

Therefore it follows we are all born sinful, but can acheive Grace by forgiveness of the Lord.

JWs differ from other Christians in that they dont beleive JC does the forgiving as he is not God, but A god who paid the price God wanted to repay for Adams Sin by a ransom Sacrifice....he did not rise to heaven but remains here...

Im still waiting.

oh, and the Watchtower says so.
