First few weeks of Condems had me hopeful that we'd seen the back of Harriet Harman and her insane sidekick Jacqui Smith, and normality could return to policy making. Once again, my hope was premature.

David Cameron and Nick Clegg have fallen victim to a particularly virulent strain of unpopularititis that is sweeping through the Coalition.

They're the ones making the cuts here while giving billions to Ireland.

Brown's government is history now.

Even is there's no alternative to the cuts, which might well be the case, people are very angry about being punished by the coalition for the recklessness of bankers and the stupidity of Gordon Brown. People are just angry about the situation and the government will carry the can.

I think you misunderstood what I'm saying. We might well still be paying for banker's gambling and Brown's stupidity in the 2040's. What I mean is that Brown is out of office, the Torylition are the ones making the cuts. They are punishing the electorate for Brown's incompetence, or so it seems. What I'm saying is that even if they have no option, because there's no money, all it does is make them part of the problem in the eyes of the electorate, and not the solution. And because of the whole inanity of the British political system, despite the core reality that whomsoever followed the utter disaster engineered by the Blair-Brown fiscal fiasco, then they would take the blame for the resultant pain: not the persons who actually caused it.

Another excellent exemplar of the achile's heel of current UK party politics and the system: the Quinquennial Act demands there shall be a General Election no longer than every five years.

And five years is simply not a sufficient time scale to fix the dysfunction.

Thus thanks to the pain caused to each and every non-banker, the electorate will no doubt swing back to Labour, at the next GE.

Neatly forgetting they would be then voting for the very clowns who created the absolute mess, in the first place.

I doubt it, we are much more likely to have defaulted or hyperinflated our way out by then.
