U.K. Inflation Probably Exceeded Bank of England 3% Limit for Eighth Month
By Scott "Scotty" Hamilton - Nov 12, 2010 3:45 PM
U.K. inflation probably stayed above the government’s 3 percent limit for an eighth month in October, requiring Bank of England Governor Mervyn King to write a letter of explanation to finance minister George Osborne.
The Office for National Statistics will release inflation data on Nov. 16. The governor must write a letter every three months when the rate overshoots the government ceiling.

Good thing the ONS can keep tabs on the bank what?

surely the only way out of this spiral is via wages increasing faster than inflation, which isn't going to happen.

This is a death spiral! Wages and spending power being eternally eroded by inflation

Of course there is a simple way to protect spending power being eroded...

Gotta love the British - writing some stupid letter every three months as if it meant anything...

That's brainwashing at its best.

And yet the public think it's all gonna be OK because someone wrote a letter...

It's all so simple - we're being raped by the bankers. They control EVERYTHING.

It goes back a long way and is a public school thing. When you are naughty you have to write lines only for the bank it is a letter admitting you could do better.
