The Best Rock And Roll Song

Recommended Posts

This has to be the best rock and roll song ever, rock with your co*k out with a carbon foot print the size of Al Gore, perfect

You may well be right there. However this is as good in my book

My god they rock, they are about the most perfect rock and roll band, if an alien came to Earth to find out about rock and roll, I'd have to give them AC/DC albums, and a few Queen.

About 10 years ago, I was at one of those London clubs where it was all House, Garage, Rave and all that balls. People were naturally off their minds on drugs.

Then, out of nowhere, amongst the banging technoi garbage, the DJ (who may now be a poster on this thread) put on the full version of 'Shook me all night long'. It was a seminal moment of my life. Andf what's more, the pillheads seemed to thing it was the best thing ever too.

If I ever meet that DJ, I will bow to him (or her), unless it's Mike Read or Pat Sharp, who, of course, I would headbutt.

Thats sounds fantastic!

If we are talking rock love songs I think these two have to be up thereMy link

Are you listening Celine Dion, thats how you do it.

Just Like Heaven

"Show me how you do that trick

The one that makes me scream" she said

"The one that makes me laugh" she said

And threw her arms around my neck

"Show me how you do it

And I promise you I promise that

I'll run away with you

I'll run away with you"

Spinning on that dizzy edge

I kissed her face and kissed her head

And dreamed of all the different ways I had

To make her glow

"Why are you so far away?" she said

"Why won't you ever know that I'm in love with you

That I'm in love with you"

You

Soft and only

You

Lost and lonely

You

Strange as angels

Dancing in the deepest oceans

Twisting in the water

You're just like a dream

Daylight licked me into shape

I must have been asleep for days

And moving lips to breathe her name

I opened up my eyes

And found myself alone alone

Alone above a raging sea

That stole the only girl I loved

And drowned her deep inside of me

You

Soft and only

You

Lost and lonely

You

Just like heaven

It's not rock and roll.

It's rock.

Huge difference.

This is rock n roll..

Although their best song (IMHO) was more symphonic-rock-ballad:

(doesn't get going until 1:45.. but these guys are pure talent.. check out the guitar solo at 3:00!)

So this is what the kids are listening too.

Perhaps i am being pedantic but i always associate rock n roll with the era around the 50s and 60s where the blues rhythm and other styles were fused and adapted to produce this type of music tipified by songs like Johnny B Goode. Rock music was a different style and came about a decade later and was a progression of rock n roll. A harder, more guitar orientated sound with a more strident beat.

Sounds about right, classic rock and roll tended to have a rather limited chord prgression of Major, perhaps related minor, sub dominant, major, dominant and then minor

For me you can never beat Van Halen... Extreme... etc. AC/DC for sure - so much go music.

But my favourite... EVER.... has to be Guns N' Roses. Just CANNOT be beaten - I was in love with them. Two years after playing guitar I played so much that I could do their entire catalogue of songs - they progressed my playing and appreciation for music like no other band. Sometimes pants live but the excitement was electric. Only wish I wasn't born in 1984 - too late to the party :(

P.S. I do like Nickelback, but I also don't see the point in 7-string guitars!

Too much commercialisation of music nowadays - we need guitar heros to make a comeback. Actually no - we need NEW guitar heros.

In 1993 I bought Siamese Dream by the Smashing Pumpkins on cassette. I wore it out within a year and then rebought it.

I have also bought it twice on CD due to wear and tear.

It's an album I simply cannot do without.

Since I got my posh new car a little over a year ago, which plays mp3s on CDs, I've had one disc in there with most of their albums on it, and I dip into it at least once a week. I'd say they're my favourite of all the bands that I've never seen. Another disc is full of Muse...

Christ I love threads like this where you just witter on about music and ignore all the serious stuff like house prices and the economy.
