BBC2 Thursday 9:50 PM Underground Britain:

Get Rich Quick

Filmmaker Saul Dibb follows one of the booming number of investment schemes that claim they can create vast amounts of wealth in very short spaces of time. Revealing, funny and at times deeply poignant, the result is a gripping modern morality tale.

Six years ago Spencer Michael says he was deep in debt and living in a council flat. He then turned himself into a multi-millionaire through property deals with a top of the range car and a beautiful wife. Now he claims he can do the same for anyone, selling seminars containing the secrets to his success for thousands of pounds to ordinary members of the public desperate to live his dream.

Flamboyant, charismatic and without an ounce of self-doubt, Spencer allowed Dibb to test him at his word and follow the fortunes of him and his clients over six months. But after an ex-employee makes damaging claims about his operation, and disappointed clients demands their money back, Spencer wishes he hadn't opened himself up to scrutiny after all. A film that starts as an observation is forced to turn into an investigation, with extraordinary and unexpected results.

Worth watching!
