I remember at the time fall out from the disaster landed on the Welsh Hills and thousands of gallons of milk was thrown down the drains. Up to that time I knew of only a few who died of cancer. Since 1990 cancer has become endemic in the UK and it is blamed on many factors but never the Chernobyl disaster. The BBC link below shows that in 2000 the problem was still there.
