Airline Industry Posting Profits(Usa)

Recommended Posts

Most of the other big U.S. airlines are scheduled to report results Thursday. Analysts expect the eight top carriers to post a combined adjusted profit of $2.4 billion, which would be their best performance since the third quarter of 2007.

My comments: Airlines is almost 1% of the US economy. This industry has long since suffered from massive overcapacity and too many players. But over the last few years the industry has consolidated with a number of mergers. And they have downsized their fleets to more match actual demand. And now actual profit being made, 2.4$ billion in one quarter for the industry is pretty good.
