How To Earn A Few Quid For A Minutes Work

Recommended Posts

On the radio today they have been talking about paying sperm donors the same as women who donate eggs. At present neither are paid but they're arguing that if women get paid for taking complex drugs, and having a surgical procedure then men should get paid for sitting with a magazine in a cupboard with a cup.

It strikes me that paying for the time would be the right way of doing this. (Or arguing that a man can donate say 20 times and a woman only once... so the fees should reflect this somehow...)

So how many of you would donate reproductive tissue in order to raise money (They have just upped the limit on the number of times a man can donate)

And would you put the money towards your mortgage? (Just to keep it on topic a bit!)

:)

Hmmm?....let me think? there's no anonymity so 16 years hence some spotty faced disgruntled teen turns up on my doorstep with 'issues' and a bunch of questions or worse yet someone like Harriet 'Hatemen' forces through legislation that means I have to pony up and contribute financially for the upbringing of these children.

Oh go on then! Where do I sign up?

Yeah without the anonymity it's a complete no-no. Removing that was a major error IMO.

In the spirit of Darwinism, I also think individuals who can demonstrate high genetic potential for something useful should be offered higher incentives.

They also said (on Radio 4 this morning) that men need to refrain from drinking alcohol or having sex for six months prior to donating -- slightly changes the equation there.

I'd definitely not put the money towards a mortgage.

Is masturbation OK in that six months?

Was about to add what about if you are married and considering it, then I realised the irony. In fact perhaps they should target married men?

Never agreed with the whole sperm donor issue.

If a woman cannot find a man to have kids with the natural way, then there is probably a reason why ...and do we really want anymore of them in this world?

I vaguely recall reading about a case where a mother and/or child went to court to find out who the sperm donor father was. The downside isn't worth it IMHO.

I don't agree with that. Suppose hubby is out of juice due to working to the bone paying off the mortgage on an over-inflated flat. What's better - wifey going to the pub hoping to get picked up and knocked up? Or a visit to the clinic? What would you prefer if it was your wife?

Jesus, are you for real?

I take it you, your family or anyone you've every loved have never benefited any life saving medical or surgical intervention.

Do we really want any more of you in this world?

No.

Who wants to go through a whole load of tests, fill out paperwork and then abstain from sex and Alcohol for three months - while donating - and then, in twenty years get 10-20 children demanding an explanation and money. Oh, and get bombard by insults by pig ignorant fools.

Not surprising, there are extremely few sperm donors in the UK.

The fact is most women who need a donor are going to do that or its modern equivalent, the web site forum.

I didn't hear that bit

http://bridge-spermdonor.co.uk/information_pack.pdf

this says 3 days.

If accepted, how often would I need to produce samples?

Donors should ideally produce two samples a week for four to six months. Many of our current

donors, however, produce one sample each week on a regular basis. We do appreciate that this

will not always be possible, but a commitment to producing samples regularly is important. t

That's not exactly demanding considering porn stars have to produce samples about 6 times a day.

Can I take it that your real name isn't Sarah?

Looking here it doesn't support what was said on the radio:

http://www.carefertility.com/donation-programme-sc3/donating-sperm-sj5/page-2/

Would I be a suitable sperm donor?

You may or may not have already had a preliminary interview to assess your suitability as a donor. If you have not, after reading the information you will be asked a series of questions to make sure that you are suitable to be a donor before we can discuss this further. Current regulations require donors to be between the ages of 18 and 40 years, should be fit and healthy, and they and their families should be free from any serious medical condition or genetic disease.

There are certain high-risk groups from which we cannot recruit donors. If you belong to or have ever belonged to any of these groups we cannot accept you as a sperm donor.

* Drug users

* Haemophiliacs (treated with blood products).

* Residents from high-risk areas such as Central Africa.

* Men who, are or ever have been, sexually involved with members (male or female) of the above groups.

Once you have received and read our information, we will arrange an appointment time for you to attend CARE for a test semen analysis and run through the procedure in more detail with a member of our team. We will ask you to produce a semen sample, so that we can test how sperm react to being frozen. For this and any future samples, you should abstain from having sex or masturbating for at least 2 days but no more than 5 days, to maximise the potential of your sample.

........

What happens after I am accepted as a donor?

Donors are registered with the HFEA, which means anyone conceived using donated sperm will be able to consult the register and find out who the donor was, once they reach 18. This is a point to which you need to give serious consideration and is something that will be discussed with you at your initial appointment. It is important to note however that the donor of sperm is NOT the legal parent and you will not be financially or emotionally liable for the upbringing of any child created using your sperm.

As it is possible for a virus to reside in your body (and your sperm) but not be detectable for up to 6 months, we must repeat your screening tests a full 6 months after you finish donating. You should therefore ensure that you are available to attend the centre 6 months after your final donation. This enables us to release the sperm for treatment, subject to satisfactory final screening results.

Looking here it doesn't support what was said on the radio:

How much time is expected of me?

Samples need to be produced at CARE by appointment only and we do our utmost to offer you mutually convenient appointment times. Appointments will be made with the laboratory staff after each donation. Donations need to be made regularly (within a 2 month period) and you should anticipate attending the clinic at least once or possibly twice a week until sufficient sperm has been collected and stored, usually around 8 donations, although this varies from donor to donor.

So basically you have to abstain for two months except for a weekly donation.

I believe the number of UK sperm donors is tiny, under twenty per year.

Fact remains those women who NEED a sperm donor, can't get laid. They can't get laid because of a reason.

This is the real world. It's how it's always been. Only the strongest, healthiest and people with good genes are MEANT to survive.

So cut OAP benefits, disabled benefits etc?

Saves tons of money, especially if you stop pensions and let people starve.
