Bbc Redundancy - Best In The World

Recommended Posts

The problem is the BBC being allowed to pay the pension early. They should pay his contract of and pay the pension at age 65. It is paying the pension at age 53 that makes this deal a mockery.

55 is the earliest permissible, unless you have a right to retire earlier under your scheme rules.

It doesn't say that Mr Byford's pension will be paid early, only that when it is paid it is worth around a total of £4m.

It may be that he is allowed to take it early from age 53 or 55, but with an actuarial reduction applied.

The BBC has been hiring back people they have made redundant, so this means nothing, like their former head of religious broadcasting. This other guy isn't going to "retire."
