hilltop
Well they just had THIRTEEN YEARS to implement sound economic governence, so I'm sorry if I sound a little impatient in saying that they have had all the time anyone could ever need and they F*CKED IT UP. cockrobin
Well as I started my business in April 1977 and it now runs with all stock paid for and no need to go cap in hand to the bank like those "businessman" we see whining on the telly it would seem pretty unlikely that I wont see out another 6 months. The typical Tory businessman puts the Mrs into a Porsche, the kids into private schools and lives high on the hog.I may well decide to retire when 20% VAT comes in,not because I need to but because I don't intend to work for Cameron to give it out in handouts to his Eton pals, which - make no mistake - he will. You are obviously a lot richer than me and will no doubt be a beneficiary of his plans.Well good luck to you but I'm not working to give it to you and your ilk.And BTW Maths has always been my specialist subject. I'm probably alot poorer than you and I'm all for cuts, why any parent on over 30k should get child benefit is beyond me. I'm only on 25k and I could do without child benefit so why the hell people are moaning about the Tory plan I just don't know. If your any good at maths you must understand that your spending needs to be cut when you are in debt up to you eyeballs.
Tiger Woods?
Guilty as charged..and proud of it.Child Benefit has shown the Tories real colours, they are just not prepared, despite the "We are all in this together" rhetoric to have the load shared between all socio-economic groups. And BTW, I am a self-employed small businessman, having had a modestly successful 35 year career so don't get the idea that I am a Union dinosaur.I wasa member of a union for about 6 months at the age of 18. Huh? They are taking it off the high earners...

profitofdoom
Huh? They are taking it off the high earners... You're clearly not up to date on this story. The Tories are furiously back pedalling in an attempt to placate the £45k+ brigade and it won't happen. The same with tuition fees we will see all the same hoo-hah but ultimately it will be the £20k earners bearing the brunt, quite simply because being the median rate that is where the big money comes from. It's no use taking £1k p.a, from a million people when you can get it from ten million with the added bonus that most of them are not your voters. As has been stated openly by Tory backbenchers in the last day or so why penalise success? That is the Tory ethos, they believe in it and they are true to their word, those who have should have more and those who have less should work harder for the crumbs that fall from the tables of the rich.If you don't like that idea then don't support them, they are qute honest as to their views unlike Clegg and his pals who say one thing then do the opposite. You clearly need to get your respective heads together on this and get your story straight. On one post I am an illiterate inumerate dope whose business will go tubeside in the next six months,on the next I am swilling Bollinger and lighting my cigar with a fifty pound note drawn from the band of my top hat. This really won't do. LetsGetReadyToTumble
The period you refer to is the late 80's.When she came to power in May 1979 my business had only been going two years. Her recession of 80-82 was caused exclusively by the pursuit of crackpot economics, specifically Monetarism as exponded by Milton Friedman and the Chicago School.I ended up doing a second job selling wine in the evenings to survive. This lot are the disciples of that period and Attila the Hen. Going purely on what you've said, these weren't cuts, and the recession you refer to was bound to happen in the wake of the 70's that was a total industrial and economic disaster. Incidentally, there was no need for all the industrial unrest, it was just politically fuelled mayhem.
