British shoppers turning Japanese apparently.  This seems to worry the big retailers who think we have hit a new normal of lower consumption.

I must remember to listen to that nice Mr King next time I pop to the shops - I'll have a pair of jeans and diamond encrusted wallet please.

Well, so far that nice Mr Cameron has waddled off with about 30% of our genuinely disposable income. (Child tax credits and child benefit). What exactly does he expect?
