Gove On Sky Just Now

Recommended Posts

He is talking now. The news item was that business leaders have told Cable to come and see them because he has been a naughty boy and not got any concessions on unlimited immigration for cheap labour.

Randall put the question to Gove and Goves answer was. Well business will lobby for what they want not what the country needs. He explicitly said their main concern was that the immigration cap applies to inter company transfers. Randal agreed with this.

Gove then said the govt positions is that they will listen but with millions of people unemployed they want to know why these people can not do the jobs because they country needs unemployment down to get the deficit down.

Good stuff Gove - much better than some clown shouting British jobs for British workers and flooding the country with cheap labour.

Political reality.

Big business and in particular the City is hated.

New immigrants don't have a vote but Mr White Working Class and Mrs Lower Middle Class do.

Not before time. Intra company transfer abuse should be clamped down on at every opportunity and if the companies involved don't like it, they can f**k off to India.

Here is the sky link where they are saying they do not have enough visa to ship senior talent into the UK. Bolloxcks, they are lying.

Then the real reason comes out. The current limit means they will have to ship back to india a lot of the people that Labour let in because they can not renew their visas. Ah diddums.

Tata are at the table, I wonder why. They should be told you take govt contracts you employ indigenous people not more inter company transfers.

The penny might drop soon that there are people in this government who actually have some idea about what they want to see happen and how to do it.

You may agree or disagree with their objective, but it's so novel to have a government with some ..... point.

If they hold firm on this, it will be a huge middle class vote-winner.

If indigenous people aren't suitable, then the education and training landscape needs to be remodelled so the people leaving school and university in 5-8 years time are suitable.

They will talk about stopping it but they won't IMPO.

I think they may comprimise as well.

Say a foriegn leech company wants to bring in 1000 cheap labour. The Govt will say you can bring in 500 but you must train 500 brits.

Last time i looked Britons of all colours had the vote. Or, according to the Warsi women, if their surname is Patel, Amir or similar, they get several votes each.

British firms providing "training?" Does not compute! They like their slaves ready trained for them, scum that they are.

It is refreshing that they seem to have a grasp of economics beyond just borrowing money and spending it. It will be interesting to see how this term pans out.

Agreed but what I fear is a decent enough policy from government will be messed up the civil service. It should be possible for companies to bring senior staff to the UK if they need to - that's generally to everyone's advantage - but much harder to bring in hordes of junior people who could just as easily, if not cheaply, be recruited locally. What's likely to happen of course is that the rules will be applied so as to not seem discriminatory with the result being that all the slots will go to Tata and the like who will make 1,000,000 applications so as to get most of the available ones in a lottery of some sort. This is what happened to the H1-B scheme in the US (which is not an intra-company transfer arrangement I admit).

Cameron was in India recently touting for trade, so it's unlikely that they will do anything radical to prevent Indian workers coming here.

In fact I saw an interview with some indian official who made it very clear that if we did not allow further expansion of their outsource/insource activities there might not be a happy ending. He was especially keen to get into the legal side of things in the UK- which must be lucrative target from their point of view- so if you work in the legal side of things you might be getting the same treatment the IT people have got in recent years.

India are not that big in manufacturing- so their weapon of choice is outsourcing work form the west.
