Evil Laughs Ahoy!

Recommended Posts

You nasty woman :P

I just stopped after the first bit and thought I'd better cut and paste it here for anybody not tempted to click the link.

I am a homeowner (apartment)

.

.

.

I purchased my apartment 3yrs ago through a co-ownership scheme (i own 50%, the government owns the rest) and have been paying an interest-only fixed mortage up until now. I have recently converted to variable repayments and my plan is to begin full repayments. I bought at the peak of the property boom and i am now in negative equity.

So.... you own half of less than nothing. Well done you.

The government didn't do shared ownership directly? Thought it was housing associations only...

50% interest, shared ownership, negative equity. Ouch!

Re the question, she is concerned about proecting her 3 years of payments. They have gone into the ether dear!

Your boyfriend will stay well clear if he has any sense.

If 50% is government does it mean we are the other half who bought at the peak and own less than nothing?

Don't some of the schemes palm NE onto the human rather than the association part?

I beleive so. I don't think you get stung for full -ve equity under some shared ownership schemes, just the bit you "own".

Judging by the trouble she is in, i bet she's better than 10 out 10.

What a strange definition many in this country have for the term "homeowner".

"Homeower" more like, all the responsibility plus the liability.....how can you move when you want/need to or are you stuck?

Gentlemen, start the engines on your sock puppets.

Although they seem to be dishing out plenty of cold hard reality over there. As said above, Mumsnet it isn't.

She's in NE, which means the govt which owns the other half is also in NE - our taxes (actually yours, cause I haven't paid any in this country in ages ;) ) are being paid out to keep builders prices high.

Mark me down as being distinctly unimpressed.
