SouFun shares rise 73% on first day of trading

A sparkling debut for a Chinese company in a US initial public offering – the first in September – has offered some hope of breaking a log-jam in the issuance market.

SouFun Holdings, which operates a popular Chinese real estate web site, sold $123m worth of shares, which returned 73 per cent in first-day trading. That is the second-best performance of an initial public offering on US markets in 2010.

People on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange thought it was 1999. The world’s not actually falling apart,” said a senior banker.

Partying like it's 1999, eh? We all know what happened in 2000...

Here's their website:

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. And I can't find many new houses for sale. If you click the link for second-hand homes, it jumps to a completely different website just in chinese ;)
