(05/09/05) Around 10,000 members of the Public and Commercial Services union in London will be balloted over the next few weeks on whether to hold a one-day walkout followed by other forms of industrial action, in protest at job cuts.

I wonder if anyone will notice?

It has only just begun. There are alot more job cuts coming.

This government has overmanned the public sector in its mad pursuit of

a post-2001 recovery. They must let people go, or raise taxes to unacceptable

levels

It has only just begun.  There are alot more job cuts coming.

This government has overmanned the public sector in its mad pursuit of

a post-2001 recovery.  They must let people go, or raise taxes to unacceptable

levels

Public sector job cuts will have several effects: reduce tax take from those who are fired, increase the benefits they require whilst unemployed, decrease the amount they spend in the shops and elsewhere.

This leads to job losses in other industries as a result, and the downward spiral continues.

Why do they not consider job sharing? I'm sure there are plenty of civil servants who would happily go part time. This would reduce the cost of the civil service whilst keeping them in employment and not requiring benefits.
