Time To Get Real On The Economy

Recommended Posts

Video doesn't work for me, so I've created a web page and embedded a direct link (see attachment). Your browser may ask you if it's okay to run the control - if you're not happy doing it, you have to create your own web page as follows:

<object width="292" height="219"><embed height="219" width="292" allowscriptaccess="always" src="http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/fop/embedflv/swf/fop_wrapper.swf?id=21818804&autoStart=0&prepanelEnable=1&infopanelEnable=1&carouselEnable=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed></object>

Save it as "something.html" and double-click on its icon in whatever folder you save it in.

Otherwise, just use my page:

Thanks for posting that.

He makes it sound so simple- but can the banks really live through such a write off I wonder.

I thought the whole point was that the banks can't go through a write off of this sort and remain standing.

On reflection, he's probably too "shouty" for the post to carry much credibility in the forum.

I think in part 2, he's basically hinting at writedowns. Although he may also be hinting at further modifications of the accounting rules to "fix" MBS valuations.
