Would You ....

Would you ask your mum to do a couple of loads of washing the day she looks after your kid whilst you go to work because you went out last night and stuff needed washing?

Yes, absolutely. Its not like she has to put it through he mangle. Just put it in the machine, take it out and hang it up. You can get it off the line / radiators / out of the tumble drier later.

yes. I would also expect it all to be ironed when I collected the brat.

Why not? Washing isn't exactly difficult these days, put in washing machine, add detergent turn on, then hang up 5 minutes labour if that.

Collected?

Brat is dropped off, and cos it was raining mum picked brat's mum up from work and took her home.

It was all washed and ironed.

Is it just me who thinks its taking the piss?

I might ask nicely but I would not be put out if she refused. And I might bring some flowers / chocolates as a nod to reciprocity.

I suppose asking brats mums mum to put the hoover round before she left would be pushing it

LOL I have suggested she takes a holiday to my house where she could do the dishes and clean the windows too.

Brat's granny has a blue badge due to a back problem and hasn't yet retired full time yet.

If brat's granny was a fit and healthy fully retired person maybe it's different - but having gone out socialising the night before is not an excuse imo for asking mum to do the laundry.

For a start she should have got BF to do it, or fitted it into her busy social life.

Dam has been opened now and no doubt further requests will follow.

both of which prompt the question, if said washing chore is soooooo trivial, why bother asking for it to be done in the first place? Why not just " put in washing machine, add detergent turn on, then hang up" oneself? Must be only "5 minutes labour if that.", no? ;)

No, I would put it in the machine before I left to drop my kid off, it would be clean by the time you got back from work. ;)
