The Us House On The Market For 17 Years

Recommended Posts

The article in The New York Times about the house is really funny.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/22/us/22house.html?_r=2&pagewanted=1&hpw

"Mr. Dean said he thought the sale would be harder on his oldest son, Chris, who at 21 was given the task of decorating the house and now, at 43, is still trying to come to terms with the experience. It was his first effort at decorating something on such a grand scale; he made one more effort, which ended in disaster, and retired from interior decorating at age 24. "

Thxs for the NY Times link. I'll treasure it :)

He and his first wife, Lynda, spent four years and $25 million building their own private Versailles, which they called “Dean Gardens” and finished in 1992.

Doesn't quite have the same kudos as Versailles does it Mr. Dean

Their architect, Bill Harrison, said each square inch of it was given the attention to detail of a Faberge egg.

What a gem

I wonder if 'Dean Gardens' is in his promo pack?

Only in America:

And here's the venue's website:

http://www.deangardens.com/

$25 million to build and $1 million a year to run.  Yours for $7.6 million 17 years later.

House prices only ever go up.

Bandwidth exceeded for the website. they obviously didn't include the cost of running a webserver into the million a year running costs
