AvidFan
Character? That was me on my wedding day. An MP at his peak. Notice the tasteful editing to remove the back of my secretary's head? You're serious.

Constable
We have inflation of about 5%, but in the USA it is negligible (I think). Surely with relative purchasing power this means that the pound is likely to remain weak unless interest rates rise significantly - which I think we all agree is unlikely unless the pound really tanks (the BoE seem happy to ignore inflation - they've even said as much!). Personally I think both the £ and $ are toast in the longer term as the debt can never be repaid, and they will keep printing and trying to inflate away the debt. Therefore I'm happy to keep buying commodities to hold for the long term. And happy to stay renting too!
