According to :

We sell your blood for £125

"The organisation which collects, processes, tests and distributes blood says it has been able to pass on efficiency savings to the NHS."

The price of a quarter of a litre of blood has gone down from £140 to £125."

Obviously needed service , but I really didn't think this was what was happening to donated blood at the blood bank .

I had a look at the accounts of the people who are incharge of this organisation and it appears , though I could be wrong , that this is an arrangement dating from 2005 .

The Medical Director is on around £20,000 a month and the Financial Director £10,000 a month .

Pdf link .

Please , tell me I am wrong .

sounds like it needs competition. Yes there is a price for processing blood that needs to be paid, but can it be cheaper? You could have a number of charities/private companies supplying blood to the market...

I'm O -ve, is that worth the most? Its universal donor.
