House Price Crash Forum

SB is a sharp cookie.

She is probably the only property developer that I can stand to watch, largely for the reason that she really understands the business. She has excellent technical understanding, financial sense, management skills and some design/decor flair.

I'm also quite impressd that she has ended Property Ladder, with the market going down the drain this wasn't going to make good TV. A few months back I heard her caution people that it would be harder to make money when the market wasn't going up.

The new show is a very brave move (Streets Ahead), can you imagine trying to get 20 people in a street to agree on anything? And it adds real value, not just slapping down laminate flooring.

It's also allowed her to step around the housing slump problem, unlike Kirstie and Phil who appeared a few weeks back with forecasts of massive price rises in the lousiest parts of England. They just looked like complete idiots.

Sarah Beeny rocks.

It doesn't even appear to state on that site why there is a photo of Sarah Beeny on it; what connection she has to it, or what she thinks of the site etc etc... <_<

Look at the site...closely. Do you see a contact address? Postal Address? Telephone number? Details of who runs it? ANY information at all that convinces you it couldn't be a Russian Mafia site, some bloke in his bedroom, a con artist. It's not a bad idea, but who is going to subscribe to it with zero fundamental info. Or maybe I didn't look hard enough.

I'm also quite impressd that she has ended Property Ladder, with the market going down the drain this wasn't going to make good TV. A few months back I heard her caution people that it would be harder to make money when the market wasn't going up.

Indeed, she knew all along that most of the 'developers' featured were adding little value and they were just flippers without realising it, most would have made as much or more money by leaving the place empty for 3 months and riding the market, saving themselves the time, money and trouble.

She'd quite often comment that most of the work was superfluous and for what were to become rental properties to offload onto BTL'er she'd say "all I would do is fit basic kitchen units for £200 and a new sink", i.e. a nice tidy up exercise.

It's amazing the market bailed out every over designed and over budget job, as the series went it this grew ever more OTT, even SB knew the fundermentals long went out the window, a job using hand crafted tiles at £200 per piece illustrated this quite nicely.

Anyone can make money in a bull market, during the dotcom boom you could have used a monkey as a stock picker and you'd be quids in, he was caled Henry Blodget infact

SB is probably suprised it lasted as long as it did. If it wasn't for BoE intervention the market would of run its course 2-3 years back, unfortunately this has only put off the day and it's now falling from greater heights.

it certainly is her - when you move the mouse over her it says sarahbeeny. The properties of the picture; it is called beeny_homepage2.jpg.

I suppose she is trying to make an extra buck - e.g carol vorderman and the cholesterol spreads/first plus loans, and that other irritating blonde woman and the currys snip snip adverts.

Perhaps she's realised the future of propety shows is in jeopardy - time for a change of career?

Sarah's new job

She's known the game has been up for a while now and will state so in interviews, although she doesn't use the "C" word. She seems bearish on the market, at best she doesn't see any value at moment.
