Main story: New call for Dr David Kelly inquest

A group of experts have renewed calls for a formal inquest into the death of government scientist Dr David Kelly.

They say the official cause of death - a haemorrhage - was "extremely unlikely" in the light of new evidence.

The claim comes in a letter from eight senior figures, including a coroner, published in the Times newspaper.

Dr Kelly's body was found in 2003 near his Oxfordshire home after he was exposed as the source of a BBC story on the grounds for going to war in Iraq.

Instead of a coroner's inquest, then Prime Minister Tony Blair asked Lord Hutton to conduct an investigation, which found Dr Kelly committed suicide.

Lord Hutton's inquiry found the 59-year-old died from blood loss after slashing his wrist with a blunt gardening knife.

The letter's signatories include a former coroner, Michael Powers, a former deputy coroner, Margaret Bloom, and Julian Bion, a professor of intensive care medicine.

They say Lord Hutton's conclusion is unsafe. They argue that a severed ulnar artery, the wound found to Dr Kelly's wrist, was unlikely to be life-threatening unless an individual had a blood-clotting deficiency.

"Insufficient blood would have been lost to threaten life," they write.

"Absent a quantitative assessment of the blood lost and of the blood remaining in the great vessels, the conclusion that death occurred as a consequence of haemorrhage is unsafe."

the dot com collapse kills off banks.

george bush gains power through a rigged florida election

3 steel buildings fall down through acts of terror. one is not hit at all but still falls, despite not one previous steel building collapse, all 3 collapse at freefall.

interest rates are lowered as an emergency measure against the attack damaging the economy.

america enters the middle east, and without any uk referendum, so does the uk.

a scientist who gets in the way if the evidence is killed.

the banks butt rape nation after nation using the low emergency interest rate as a baited hook.

nation after nation are bankrupted by the banking losses.

and you all doubt this with your fancy IT jobs and your swindon living, and pass this off as too crazy to be truthful. but it is the truth. there are no conspiracies here. just the facts.....

SCARY !!

If Kelly was mudered, it would be the weirdest cover up ever, killing a bloke AFTER he's spilled the beans. He wasn't in the way, he leaked it.

If it's all a conspiracy, how come the BBC are 'allowed' to have a phone in about it, eh?

Doctors have always doubted the circumstances . . . I remember several letters to the Guardian at the time.

Perhaps the most telling detail is that their was no proper coroner's inquest - almost a unique event. The only other person in recent times not to have a proper autopsy or coroner's report was Litvinenko . . . someone else who got caught between security services.

That's exactly why Kelly was killed IMO, to show where the power was and how ruthless it was capable of being.

What has always puzzled me is how they shut the family up, my guess is they cowed them with some invented stuff about him having an orange in his mouth and his trousers round his ankles or something.

Michael Howard leads MPs' call for full inquest into the death of weapons inspector Dr David Kelly

Good question. You wouldn't expect the interests of truth and openness to be served by politicians.

But here's a possible motive. Labour are still strong in the polls while the Coalition is pretty much forced to take unpopular measures for the forseeable future.

A means to really damage and discredit Labour for years to come wouldn't be a bad thing.

Justice Minister Ken Clarke was yesterday urged by a Cabinet colleague to scrap Labour’s unprecedented 70-year embargo on releasing Dr Kelly’s medical records, including the results of the post-mortem examination.

One snag, though. I strongly suspect those and other records will have been 'accidentally shredded' like Blair's expenses.

Yes, that line of thought did cross my mind.

Kelly had heart attack, says pathologist

New theory questions Hutton finding over death of weapons inspector, but says he was not murdered

By Andrew Johnson

Sunday, 15 August 2010

A retired pathologist cast further doubt yesterday on the circumstances surrounding the death of Dr David Kelly, the government weapons inspector said to have committed suicide in 2003. She also criticised Lord Hutton's handling of the inquiry into his death. Dr Jennifer Dyson joined other experts questioning the official finding that Kelly bled to death. She argued it was more likely that the 59-year-old scientist suffered a heart attack due to the stress he had been placed under

So, why would a Government pass off a heart attack as a suicide and hide the medical records for 70 years?

Perhaps if the heart attack was induced by something other than stress?
