Ok, Own Up, Who On Here Is A Loser?

Recommended Posts

My confession-thread entries summed up: a fatty with a big paunch (but "fitness" body fat), and possibly borderline binge drinker (though I'd only ever touch that much booze with a meal :P ). No further X-Quork confessions.

But wtf am I doing here?

The Lady I sacked 5 hours ago probably feels like one, She isn’t though and I told her that but I am sure she feels like one especially in her family tonight.

Why did you sack her?

Non performance, its a same as she gave 200% but she was just wrong for the job and couldn't perform within the team.

That's sad. Maybe you should tighten up your recruitment process?

Believe me I don't like these moments and she was shocked and crying when I broke the news to her. I did give her four weeks in lieu of notice which I think was a very magnanimous gesture on my behalf. No one has ever done that to me.

She doesn't know it was non performance as that would open me up for unfair dismissal the official reason is that her services were no longer required, I have her replacement teed up for Monday in a different title to avoid litigation.

Did you go through a disciplinary or capability process? If not, you're the loser.:(

why is that ?

Because if she took you to tribunal, the lack of use of one of these procedures would up the compensation payable and weaken your case.

not if she was "made redundant"

He says he's sidestepped that minefield by making it a role not performance issue.

Interesting to hear if there's any comeback, pretty rough for her after an internal transfer.

She's not redundant. Bardon just said he'd replaced her. The job title alone won't fool the tribunal.

Edit: clarity

To be honest, Bardon's probably done her a favour of sorts, it sounds like a shit company to work for.

Absolutely. I bet she's laughing all the way to the Employment Law Specialist!

You are right and I have. I told her that she would be better off in another organisation in a role that is more aligned with her professional aspirations.

That's not really what I meant. I meant that your company sounds like it's operated by cowboys.

.....Sack the person who recruited her. (It wasn't you was it?)

Good job she has no friends that are working at the company, you know the sort of people who would say to her; 'that new person X who started last Monday - doing your job ....'

Oops.

I am being mister nice guy now as my bonus is coming I won’t able until I complete the project then I will. The Director knows that. Most of my staff are on a very good day rate the staff guys are so so thast there problem although I am t6he excpetion being a staff guy and keeping my options open after this project. I got headhunted to join them. It doesn't matter, its a project, we get paid shed loads, we are mercenaries, project ends, we go to next assignment. Corporate culture is for the fairies in my current game. I exchange my time for money as does my staff.

Yup. Realized this at 27. Best way to work if you're in civils/projects.

I will have a job for you mate just give me some time, I am watching for you.

I don't want to let on to the rest of them here what a really nice bloke you are, because it'll spoil the fun.

Let's face it, I've had to spend a while being a bit lazy and doing what I want/need to do. That said, if there is nothing real going on come the end of the year, I'm seriously considering TEFL and teaching in the local private school. 35,000 Baht a month is double what we live on here now everything is finished. Wouldn't be a bad life.

Take the job, inspire the nippers, and make sure you do though, then it’s time to dance again.

Makes sense.

Email earlier from a mate in Blighty, still no work and he's been in that situation for a year now.

I am a grade 'A' loser. However I quite like it. laugh.gif

And there are many things about me that others would class me as a 'winner' for. All just opinions.

Loser is the new winner.

I would think every single HPC poster has at least one aspect of their lives in which they could be defined as a loser.

I don't think a person whose life was entirely brilliant and satisfying would post here. Not that it isn't fun sometimes, but it's not real life, and it's not a holo-deck either.
