Rbs Fined £5.6M

Recommended Posts

The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has been fined £5.6m for failing to ensure that customers and their transactions were not involved in terrorism.

Happened during 2008. More taxpayers money gone.

All these anti terror measures are totally BS anyway. I mean you've got to check eye colour etc. In fact my old place only went through the motions and just ticked the boxes on the anti money laundering forms, namely as it insulted the customers deeply.

Though I did have a funny case of a woman born in 1912 who had no NI code HMRC denied she ever existed that was good for a few hours argueing the HMRC who insisted they were right.

Would she have been exempt from taxes then?

At about 10p each the transaction costs outweigh the fine, so maybe we will all be let off?

Conflating a thread or two here, I went to the old Bill with evidence of mortgage fraud, the money subsequently being sent out of the country in amounts of less than £500 a time to evade the "terror" checking.

They wouldn't even give me the time of day, weren't interested. They don't do fraud. Banks problem, they said. I later found some other frauds the perp had committed, and the story there was the same, not our problem said old Bill.

Months later, I got a phone call. They were looking for the perp, as he finally defrauded a little old lady of her own money, and she had connections.

Useless waste of time. Both the old Bill and the money laundering regs.
