BP filling stations across London have been shut down by environmental activists.

Campaign group Greenpeace claimed it had shut off the fuel supplies to all stations in the city. The oil company said about 20 had been closed.

BP said activists stopped the flow of fuel by flipping safety switches on forecourts, then removing them to prevent the filling stations reopening.

How long until a break away group decide its a bigger statement to go a little bit further ?

Intended terrorism, probability very low.

Causing an accident by tampering with equipment, probability high.

wrong.

There's something to this.If such action were entirely accidental than how come goldman sachs and a few other establishments offloaded a shedload of shares three months prior to the incident?

enviro-fascism was always intended to be one avenue into the centrally-planned socialist society.

the powers that be have lots of technology and patents for ideas that would MASSIVELY reduce our fossil fuel dependence, but the gizmo's are not being deployed.

one has to suspect that this stuff only gets drip-fed into the system so as to maintain a means of control of the populace.

...that's why we get legislation instead of innovation.

Environmentalism is all but a recognised religion now. As with all slightly loony religions I'm sure it will have its fair share of fanatics and martyrs.

Environmentalism can be summed up in the phrase 'don't sh*t where you eat'. Anyone with any common sense is an environmentalist.

The idea that we are separate from our environment and don't rely on it for, well, basically everything of value - water, food air etc., is more akin to religious delusion.

But that has nothing to do with the modern Green movement. The commies have co-opted Environmentalism just as they co-opt any organised movement they get their hooks into, to the point where its only purpose today is to push their far-left goals.

Those are pointless generalisations. There are as many shades of environmentalism as there are capitalism, socialism or liberalism.

But there are also simple questions - who is damaging our planet and therefore us and our ability to live?. Who are the terrorists?

If the technology exists and is not being deployed, how is that enviro-fascism? How is the population being controlled?

The Mash right on the money as usual.

I have a problem with any group who know they are totally right and know better than the rest of humanity, always seems to lead to violence in the end :(

However there are a few things that simply are right and indisputable, such as our need for clean water, clean air and land to grow food. We either have them, or we die. This is the basis of environmentalism. It's not a matter of knowing better than anyone, as everyone knows this already - as I said, it's common sense.

The problem is that our culture perpetuates the fantasy that we are separate from such things. The fact that environmentalism or a 'green' movement even exists is an indication of how f*cked our culture is, like we need to have these things pointed out to us.

I've noticed it's becoming almost de riguer amongst the anti-AGW crowd to boast of their huge petrol consumption, lack of recycling, etc. Posting these kinds of comments is an assertion of their level of anti-greenness.

Are you sure about that, Anthony Watts of www.wattsupwiththat.com (Best Science Blog) has a Prius :D . Personally I got rid of my car a few years ago, don't fly, walk to work and am probably "greener" (whatever that means) than 90% of the mentalists.
