Cut Holidays For Mps

Recommended Posts

The biggest cut should come in mps holidays. Why they get 3 months off in summer. Some claim they visit their constituencys - but ffs they should be doing that every hour the amount of travel some of them claimed.

If we can do without their meddlin for 3 months

we can do without it for the other 9

in fact they should spend ALL their time in their constituencies

and just videolink for PMQ's,debates and votes

the Houses of Parliament can become another tourist attraction instead

I thought Cameron had reduced the length of MPs' summer break? It's still pretty long I guess, but not as long as last year.

There was a news item yesterday reporting that MPs are looking at reducing school kids school holidays on the basis that some so called research concluded that school kids could "cope" with shorter holidays.

Typical from the bunch of hypocritical cheapskates wallowing in more than 6 months holiday a year.

come on come on now, these m.p. 's need this extra holiday time to fiddle their expenses forms , bit like school kids revising for exams in the holidays .

They also like school kids do summer jobs, not the minimum wage kind , but the i will scratch your back if you scratch mine highly paid consultancy jobs.

They have spent most of this year so far telling porkies as there was an election and have spent much time with their voters telling them how much those voters mean to them , this was also due to the election.

Now please cut them a bit of slack.

It's not supposed to be a holiday, it's supposed to be time for them to spend with their constituents.

I'm not sure of the historical reason for it, I'd suspect it's either to do with organising the harvest of because parliament didn't have air-con in the days or yore.

As I understand it, that's also why the schools close from late July to early Sept, so the children can help with the harvesting and hay baling. hop-picking, strawberries etc. No longer necessary, for over 40 years really, what with increased mechanisation. Oh, and imported seasonal labour of course.

They now get 6 weeks summer holiday. R5 interview this morning.

Summer - 27 July 2010 - 6 September 2010

Conference Recess 16 September 2010 - 11 October 2010

10 days back - and then a month off nearly.

I think that's more than 6 weeks.
