Just to add to the general gloom which has recently come over the housing market, the Scotsman today had a double spread on the housing market painting a welcome picture of doom and misery.

I'll not post the whole articles here, but do check out the links. It's a rehash of a lot of the news which has already come out this week but this kind of news being regularly repeated definitely helps the psychology of the market which as we all know, is confidence driven.

House prices could fall by 25% amid new lending rules.

Estate agents sell just six homes each in a month

Excellent, i cant log in to add my comments from here but it does not look like I need to.

Things are finally hitting the mainstream press and the sheeple are going to get spooked, it has taken long enough. All we need now is a shift up in IR's to really create some panic.

Interesting comments on this Scotsman thread - I see ccc has got stuck in! Having said that the comment from the BTL speculator made me want to punch the screen - as another poster said, the sooner housing benefit is nailed down the better since we are all paying (some more than others) to subsidise this scum.

Maybe the author has a BTL portfolio of Gorgie one-bedroom flats bought at peak....

It's only bad news if you bought for the first time since about 2003. Otherwise best to just stay put and wait it out. Others, plus the remortgage every year brigade, may be in negative equity within 2 years.

That paper definitively used to have a vendetta against this site.

Mind you, a candid admission that only liar loans kept things inflated and without them the housing market is 'doomed' by honest loans.

Heartening to see the 'toally unaffordable housing is a good thing' mentality challenged robustly.

But also infuriating to see someone stating the 'inflation will keep house prices up' mantra.

People who put forward this argument - and I know it's mostly out of desparation as the straws to clutch at get shorter and shorter - simply don't seem to understand that it's only WAGE inflation that would support house prices.

And we most certainly don't have wage inflation here, not for the vast majority.

Wishing for inflation is like a turkey wishing for Xmas...

Things that used to cost a lot of money get cheaper.

READ THE SHOCKING EXCLUSIVE REPORT. WHEN WILL THE BAD NEWS END?

Exactly!

When will the stupid punts wake up and realise that lower HOME prices are -

Good for the millions wanting to buy a HOME??

Good for the economy (Construction etc).

Good for future HOME owners (lower interest payments...yes Mr banker, take a hike!).

Good for those with kids (Less need for both parents to work).

The economy should serve the people...Not the other way around!

This is all great news. Not sure why it's being reported as bad news.

All part of the policy of " wealth = overpriced housing" spin.dry.gif

Omitting to point out that is is only wealth for:

- Property investors

- People who INHERIT a house.

For them wot own a house - no change.

For them wot are trying to buy a house - penury.sad.gif

The terms 'house', 'property' and 'investment' are also part of the problem.

How about...HOME!??

The faster people get this into their mindset, the easier the social and economic problems heading our way can be dealt with.
