Are You 'obviously Poor'?

Recommended Posts

I'm so poor,

I rent,

I do my own chores

I only have 1 holiday a year and that involves staying at the in laws

I mow my own lawn

I don't have an iPhone

My idea of nice plonk is something with a 'vintage'

I last paid for a haircut in 2007

I mean, how can I bear the shame? :(

I'm proud of you.

I have gardeners and maids and people that do the washing up and washing and maintenance and I have cooks and a nanny . . .

Really I do.

I thought this was going to be a joke parody thread, but all of those points apply to me......and I havent paid for a haircut since 1996.....

That was the plan but I'm worse at parody than I am at being poor (or rich forr that matter)

I picked a piece of string off the road today. It may 'come in handy' for something.

Am I the new poor....?

I mow my own lawn (it's very small).

I don't have an i-phone

Do you have to be rich to have an i-phone ??

Don't have to be rich to have one, that's the point.

You must be poorer than a church mouse to not have one

You don't look poor, you look happy and contented......

All of that except possibly 2 holidays a year (both at in-laws) and don't have a garden to mow.

All of that applies to me, except I haven't had a holiday for 3 years and I haven't paid for a hair cut since about 2001.

However, I'm loaded!

Yeaaaahhhh baby!

That's not a definition of 'poor' though, is it? Do you eat daily, do you have shoes, do you have a change of clothes and a warm coat, do you have sufficient heating to avoid frozen lavatories in the winter?

Edit: (Oh God, I'm sorry to slip into serious mode: that'll kill the thread!)

Inability to avoid frozen lavatories in the winter doesn't mean you're poor, it means you're George Michael.

Mummy left when I was 11 and I left 'home' at 16.

You're right though, Mother-in-Law does much of this and there's no stopping her.

ShyStar - any chance you could change your avatar - you've had a few over the years (Eddie et al) and your posts are good value, but your avatar creeps me out and makes me skip to the next screen PDQ... please reconsider ?

Done.... I chose Freddy because we had a huge chat in work about never seeing the original nightmare on elm street on Sky films or any other channels and one of the youngsters had never heard of him or the film.

Still not sure why it`s never shown but happy to change the pic.....

Don`t fall asleep !!! :P

(May take a bit of time to change over)

I think you'll find that most people with iPhones can't afford them - they're just in self-denial.

I honestly don't know if I'm rich or poor.

I have a full time job paying a pretty good wage, the rent on my place is about a quarter of my net income and I have plenty of cash to spend on whatever I want. But then even an average family house here costs £300,000 (i.e. about 7-8 times income) and every other car is a BMW/Audi/Merc and I wonder. Is everyone else earning £100,000+ or is it all just on credit?
